Pay TV
I saw this ad played at a theater in Cleveland, Ohio in the sixties.
It was shown before the Disney film; The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes. Though Disney had nothing with this.
What the ad was really aimed at were hotels that had coin operated TVs. If your from out of town and sticking coins in the hotel TV then you are not going to the local theater to watch movies. Get it?!
For fun, compare this bit with drive-in movie ads for horror shows found elsewhere on this site.

Anti Cable TV

Free TV is not available everywhere
The problem with this ad is that some places have never been able to get over the air TV. That is where cable and satellite TV come in. It also helped when cable only channels started.

Right on
This was one warning that should have been heeded. Now you have to pay for cable if you want to watch commercials. I used to get a few channels on air before they came out with digital. Now the only TV I watch is on Internet.

I believe this ad is more like 40 years old..not 30.
In the latter part of the 70's, the anti-cable ads that were around as I can recall targeted HBO and Showtime and the "rumors" that both channels would show hardcore porn..how the children would be affected..that sort of thing. Of course neither Showtime or HBO ever did get into the hardcore porn stuff, soft core..ok they did LOL..SKINamax anyone???
On a similar note as recently as 5 years ago there was a similar and just as strange "anti" ad that I can remember..this time about those satellite TV companies such as Dish Network produced by Washington DC's WJLA ABC 7 and the "dangers" of those living in and around Washington of watching TV from Denver...purpose? It hurts business on the local TV front. Of course the question is how can someone in DC receive TV from Denver on satellite TV in the first place is beyond me.
This ad..cool but weird..but I have seen weirder anti-cable/satellite TV ads.

Funny Stuff
We're switching over to 100% online media at the moment. I never did like cable. You essentially have the ability to watch less than 1% of the content a cable company offers during any given day, most of it is garbage, and when you get the bill you wonder why you bother.
Just called the cable company to cancel my service. Their only response was "But, you'll miss the playoffs!" ...which is about all I'll miss.

The Media War Beat Goes On
This clip was from 30 years ago. Today, the Cable TV monstrosity is even stronger! Terrestrial Broadcasting as we know it is doomed!
